In case you missed it: MBI featured in The Isthmus

Woman in black blazer and green top with large green hoop earrings smiles against an orange wall.

In case you missed it: MBI owner Sheila Robertson recently spoke to The Isthmus about her improv origin story, her history with MBI, and her goals for the future of the (monkey) business. You can read the whole story here — or check out the highlights below.

Sheila fell in love with improv at 14.

She saw a ComedySportz show in Madison and fell in love — then started performing short-form improv with the troupe a few years later.

Applied improvisation is her love language.

Sheila is energized by teaching improv in a way that resonates with non-performers and helps them use the foundational skills in their everyday lives.

Her goal is to create more improv opportunities for everyone.

Sheila wants improv to be more accessible for both audiences and performers. ‘She sees where “improv could go, and how much more we could do” to be inclusive,’ writes Josh Heath in The Isthmus.

To help more people to incorporate a little “yes, and” into their mindset, MBI is unveiling some new class offerings that include mini improv courses and an intro-level improv class taught at Theater Lila in Verona… plus lots more to come!
